The purpose of the group is to discuss all aspects of family history, to learn from each other’s experiences and to utilise the various resources available for researching one’s ancestry. One local source is the Derbyshire Record Office, on New Street, which has a wealth of local information available, as well as internet access to the many on-line genealogical databases.
Part of each meeting is usually led by one of our members with a particular interest in some part of their family history that they have traced from the many on-line Genealogy websites. Each member is encouraged to bring details of some unusual fact that they have discovered to each meeting, or even a problem they have with their tree, so that maybe a discussion on that particular topic takes
place.
